Same here in Hawaii. Makes no sense because the refund is not income. It's money that shouldn't have been paid as taxes, and was already considered as taxable income the year prior.

This is exactly what I do. I put the eggs in, let the water boil for a minute. Turn off the stove and let sit for 10 minutes. Rinse eggs in cold water. Perfect.

The convenience of an ice maker outweighs the cost. Ours broke and we went without one for a few weeks. We got it fixed. My wife and I like having it. We're fairly active people and like our water cold when we're out and about.

As much of a geek as I am, when it comes to apps, I don't like tinkering around. I wanna set it and forget it. That's why I didn't get Tasker for Android. If it takes me more than a couple of minutes to tell my phone what to do at certain events, it's too complicated.

Sounds like China, too. Amazingly, I saw one accident, and it wasn't that bad. Unlike here in Hawaii, where there seems to be an accident everyday.
