Just once I’d like to see a police union head say something bland like “We’re aware of the problems that divide this great nation and we’re working to do our part, and we’d love to foster dialogue with the community.” Never thought I’d miss the days of bland boilerplate corporate speak.

Perhaps he could lend his commentary to the over 8,000 murders that African Americans inflicted on one another in 2015

I only wish Mr. Halloran could see the physical challenges that the dead citizens face following their fatal encounter. None are able to return to the streets.

They also point out the amount of police assaulted and killed - which is undeniably awful - but the key difference isn’t that it happens; it’s that in the aftermath, one group has to fight scratch and claw to maaaaaybe get someone charged to face justice (which, almost always means an acquittal anyway,)…

To be fair, the union boss did say that killing people is very emotional for a lot of cops, some never have the heart to kill again.

It is unfair to take on that responsibility... says people whose sole job it is to be the responsible party.

I realize his job is to be deliberately obtuse, but for anyone who buys this crap, the reason the number of police officers killed or assaulted isn’t relevant to the discussion is because police officers have nobly and bravely signed up for a job where their role is to stop criminals.
