That is true. One of the first upgrades anyone does is an upgraded exhaust... which does ruin the sound. The definitely need to work that out before the next version of the game.

Wouldn't the air density have some kind of an impact in the other direction? At sea level, the air is dense and objects (that aren't permeable by air) are buoyed somewhat by it. If the air is thinner at altitude (weighing less per cubit unit), there is less buoying effect since the solid object hasn't changed volume
