I like it and it goes way back for me as well for the same reasons, but it’s too malty to have more than one. Beer that makes me thirsty I generally avoid.

I love smoked porters in general but they kill my head the next morning no matter how much I have. Why? Is it the smoke? I get the same feeling after being in a crowed bar where smoking is going on, or sitting to close to a fire too long. I like smoke, but combined with alcohol, smoke doesn’t like me.

Or simply Belgian styled ales? Two of the best non-Belgian but very good Belgian (if that makes sense) brewers out there are Canada’s Unibroue and New York’s Ommegang.
