Out of curiosity...why do you feel the need to defend either this op-ed writer or Trump?
What makes you, someone who claims to not be a supporter, wake up and say...Today I’m gonna go out of my way and defend stupid people saying and doing stupid things?

I’ll say whatever I want. And douchy comments get douchy replies.

Commenter: I’m a woman, whose rights have been taken away. Why should I be hopeful.
You: “You can hope that he doesn’t dismantle all of them”

I run on the assumption that anyone who feels the need to defend themselves as “not a racist” is almost certainly holding some racist ideas.

Hint: They’re not really trying to convince you that they’re not a racist. They’re hoping you give them the all-clear, because deep-down they’re not really sure.

I don’t think this was meant to be a glib response. But this is the coldest response I think I’ve ever read in kinja-world.

Without using alternative facts...how are you not acting as an apologist for Trump by defending his supporters and him?

I’m a pacifist. But I kinda wish I threw that egg.

What makes you think comparing an actual event to a fictional one you tailored to make a specific point is valid “these things are equal” comparison?

Translation (which we already knew): I stand for anyone like me, and only people like me.

This is an expert amendment of your original point. Can you point to any point in the article or this comment thread where someone defended the egg-thrower?

But now you’re an apologist, so....

Deciding to fuck over a majority of the country because someone threw an egg at you, and you think that person represents the everyone who is anti-Trump IS idiotic, though.
