Just force the teams to run endurance events on the same engine as the normal events - make as much power as you can, but you can’t refresh the powertrain every race. I agree, pay to win sucks, but I love what happens when you give engineers budget and free-reign.

This calls for one of my favorite dad jokes!

Also, what about the “I can’t drive that.” because of the typical owner profile?

^Yes.^
I want to see the meeting notes where BMW told Toyota that their gasket specification requires all seals to ossify and crack in 10 years so that they have to be chisled out in chunks. I’m deeply skeptical of late model BMW anything.

That’s the point - a GOOD dual clutch is required. Some of the reluctance is from people who remember SMG and other rotten attempts. I believe PDK is one of the good ones, but Porsche is on a short list of OEMs I trust to do the DCT justice.

Ah, my very first interaction with the police.

It’s called an RX7, you can buy them right now, no permits.

I’m a weirdo, but I totally want a 1986 Thunderbird turbo with some tasteful Fox-chassis improvements - 5 lug conversion with Cobra brakes. FMS aero package. 87-88 intercooler and hood. That mouse-fur velour interior in charcoal grey, thank you, as Ford’s leather was crap. That sturdy little 2.3 turbo never cranked as

It’s called presentism, it allows the subject to don the cloak of moral superiority while condemning something from years past as an example of how enlightened we are now. It’s fruitless.

Ok sorry, I’ll pronounce “Audi” as “infernal contraption of broken timing chain guides that I somehow still wish to drive the hell out of.”

Out of respect for Fendinand, I will place myself firmly in the 2-syllable camp. However, I will continue using Merc, Bimmer and pronouncing Audi “Outie”.

He got appointed ambassador to France and spent time drinking wine and tapping that sweet powered wig circuit for a good long while. I’ll take that brand of interesting.

The 3000GT was a pig from the beginning, always 5th place behind the real JDM stars, NSX, Supra, Z32 and FD RX7.

Ideal cycle conditions are not attainable, they’re thermodynamic models used as benchmarks. You’re right, otto cycle improvements are approaching diesel cycle efficiency numbers in passenger cars. Show me a petrol engine running 18:1 with 2 bar boost though. I claim this will always be outside the envelope for a

I know right?! The larger displacement engine, with more bearing journal area, more combustion surface area, more ring friction still is more efficient than the smaller engine *under sustained loads*. Who’d have thought?

I’m trying to figure out if you’re serious. Fuel economy is the most accessible measure of efficiency, BSFC is more direct and accurate. A compression ignition engine will win over SI in both cases. Mazda’s Skyactive is the only petrol tech that will yeild CI efficiency numbers so far.

Lol. Go tow a 10k lb trailer with an ecoboost and then with a powerstroke. Report your mileage for both cases and then restate your claim.

You wanna see some crazy shit - check out Project Orion.

Hell, bald tires with ABS does the same thing for me!
