Humans are predisposed to laziness. Habits are simply a manifestation of this as disrupting a routine takes a lot of work.

You need to get out more - stop reading car manuals from the 60s and 70s and talk to actual people.

It’s more about the close proximity to the broiler elements. I only drain the juices at the flip, so it’s just one time. I found that if I didn’t, the juices really start sizzling in the last few minutes and will smoke you out of the kitchen

Off-season turkey.  When we were right out of college and had an apartment with an oven, we’d snap up turkeys in the middle of summer that were ridiculously cheap.   Thanksgiving dinner in June!  A week of leftovers!
