What’s the cherry picking and what context did I remove?
What’s the cherry picking and what context did I remove?
Clinton about her distance from middle-class life (“I’m kind of far removed”); her vision of strategic governing (“you need both a public and a private position”)
What fucking glass ceiling are you talking about? yahoo as a tech company had 20% women in top management positions. The percentage of women in the tech industry is at around 30%. Is the discrepancy between 20% and 30% your glass ceiling that had to be removed? What would be an adequate number of women in top…
I work in the tech business for 30 years now. In the last 10 years, the company I’m working for has desperately tried to hire women, but to no avail. There are barely any women in IT support, very few available in network engineering and a higher number in software engineering. You can’t hire people from desired…
Glass ceiling, what glass ceiling? Marissa Meyer is the CEO of yahoo! That IS the glass ceiling.
If it could be proven, that a company deliberately fires women in top management to replace them with men and thus puts the gender ratio on its head in just 18 months you would have a pretty strong discrimination case. Replace gender with race, age, religion, political affiliation, sexual orientation and it’s still…
First of all, the 16 are only the women hired and promoted. They don’t account for the top management employees who were already there.
Where are those 100% male offices you are talking about? The only almost 100% male working places I know are the hard labor jobs. You know, firefighters, coalminers, truckers, construction workers, garbage collectors. Funny how I rarely see women in those jobs and how little feminists complain about this inequality.
I can’t. You know, only US citizens are allowed to vote ;-). If I could I’d vote for Clinton, out of pure survival instinct. If your country goes down the drain, so goes the rest of the world. She’s the proverbial lesser of two evils though and you’ve missed a great chance to nominate a real progressive to face what…
What exactly? The 80/20 to 20/80 male/female ratio of top management at yahoo within 18 months? It’s in the frickin’ post!
Where did I group all women? You’re not saying that ‘men do this and that’ means all men do it? Isn’t ‘we’re not saying that all men...’ or’#notallmen’ usually the cheeky disclaimer used in these situations?
And, as men like to say when there’s a discrimination lawsuit against a man, prove it. Innocent until proven guilty, right?
Switching from 80/20 to 20/80 m/f in a span of 18 months in a male dominated industry no less (70% men, 30% women in tech) is a “conscious effort to not be biased”? In an unbiased world, men would only hold 20% of all qualified jobs then? Okaaay.
If you hire and promote almost exclusively women, you have to fire almost exclusively men, to get tho a f/m gender ratio of 80/20 from a previous 20/80 ratio in such a short time. I read it as top management brass, not the marketing department.
All this lengthy diatribe, only to reveal the real reason not to watch The Birth Of A Nation in the next to last paragraph. Sure, it’s the depiction of violence (eyroll).
I’m saying that the gender distribution of a company should roughly be the one of the particulat industry overall. Tech industry is currently 70% mal, 30% female. yahoo went from 80/20 m/f to 20/80 m/f in top management postions ina very short time. Now, I know we’re talking about a few dozen people at the top…
You’re assuming that the tech field has equality in numbers. That is not true. Expecting an equal number of women and men in tech as of 2016, is like expecting an equal number of men and women in teaching. Talk to me again, when as many women as men apply for jobs in the tech industry. Compare 20% female leadership…
No, that’s not what this lawsuit says. It talks about discrimination gainst men, not the absence of discrimination against women. Your logic:
That is not what consent means, when we’re talking about sex. Like it or not, cheating on your partner isn’t a crime. If it was, we’d need a lot more prisons.
That is the gist of comments on this board, just with the genders reversed. If they are all correct, that all those women at yahoo are just more qualified and the men sucked at their jobs, that guy must have been right too in your case. So, apparently no discrimination happened.
