I don’t think that bitters are an acquired taste, like many alcohol types. They’re either good, or they’re not. You can get a bottle for $8 and it might be ok at best, but as someone who almost exclusively drinks whisky and whisky cocktails…
Over time and in a tight enough container, the apple can.. ferment and impart some flavor to your food.
I recommend a piece of white sandwich bread balled up tight. Doesn’t taste like much to begin with, and the “actual bread” brands like, Pepperidge Farm for example, do a much better job gathering up excess moisture.…

I think that at least a tip set and coupler is worth having even if you’re going with zip-tops though. Makes it much more maneuverable.

Zip-top storage bags work, but they don’t hold as much at the same angle and it’s.. annoying. I’m spoiled - I’ve taken enough pastry bags home over the years from restaurants I worked in that I could open a store selling them.
