Methinks a Black woman must run social media for Dictionary.com. I especially love the shade, since the only reason the Post ran this was to shade the young woman. Like really, this was newsworthy?
Epic takedown! 😁
This is ENRAGING! Everything he said makes him out to be a victim, and he STILL implies that the Black man was a threat! “Outside my home”, “leaving with my child”, that the other resident wasn’t expecting a guest (so?), the situation turned “confrontational” (and whose fault is that, Chad?)
I have concerns as well. But not because of the risk of the kids self hating. My concern is that the white parents cannot adequately prepare their kids to deal with racism.
Infuriating how they reduced Elijah to merely “a young life”. They make him sound like collateral damage.
I feel the same way. There are two candidates I particularly like, but I see no need to deride the other candidates. Ultimately, we all want the same things, right?
This is crazy. But what’s even crazier is that a couple of the featured tweets weren’t even from White people. Paola Flores is a Hispanic name. And Mike and Elio looks like a gay couple of color.
I understand the Clapback, and yes, it's merited. But I think at some point we've got to stop reacting to crap he says. He retweeted this, along with his comment, and then deleted it. He put it out there, left it there long enough to get noticed, and then deleted it. Do we really think he thought about it and decided…
I work at a hospital, too, and can confirm no one wants to steal an IV pole and pump. Hell, most people are itching to be rid of them.
“but the mustache twirling, cross burning racists aren’t even the worst ones. It’s all the microaggressions we have to swallow.”
For a long time, I honestly thought the correct term for gay people was faggot/fag. It was the term I always heard used in the community. So, it was the term I used. I had no malice or animosity towards gay people. I just thought that was the correct term.
I’m speechless.
I share your sentiments. I’m glad this wound up helping the young man, but I wish people would stop and consider what other people may be going thru before trying to hold them up as examples of... whatever. Sometimes people are just tired or hungry. And we don’t all have the luxury of being able to satisfy those basic…
I know EXACTLY how you feel. I could have written every single word you wrote. I was telling someone just yesterday about how there used to be a massive exodus from the city at 5pm. No one wanted to live in the city; they all wanted the suburbs. I, too, no longer enjoy going places I used to go bcz it is not the same.
I bet it’ll be that new one that’s popped up a couple bullshit times: suspicion of resisting arrest
So well said.
Oh it’s wild alright. The stupid is so strong... It’s become downright embarrassing.
ALL of this.
This. God, yes. I live in a(nother) city that is rapidly gentrifying and work at a teaching hospital that serves primarily the indigent. Not a single day goes by that I’m not reminded (several times) of the massive gap between the haves and the have nots.
