The point is that the plane will be moving- the article explains how the plane’s wheels are not connected to the engines at all. The plan will be accelerating at the same rate as usual, but the wheels will be spinning twice as fast.

It could be that. I looked it up online and it looks like that particular resistor is prone to failure. Also sounds like a cheap and easy fix, so I’ll replace it and see if it works! Thanks for the advice!

The exact same thing happened in my b5 Audi A4. No sunroof, so in my case it was that the underhood drains next to the hood hinge were clogged with leaves and gunk. Might not be the same on the M5, but worth a look.
