The same thing happened with the early (pre-8 speed) Grand cherokees 2011. The V6 was stuck with a 5 speed (85 mph in 2nd) and the V8 got the 8 speed. It was faster and actually got better fuel economy. Maybe not idling in a parking lot but if you drove up to the mountains the V8 was far better.
