I think an even bigger advantage could be the ability to manipulate the scrubbing to get the desired tire temperatures in a race situation. Tires too hot, no toe in. Tires too cold (safety car) , full toe in.

The steering rack and tie rods are technically not suspension. Lowering the car, stiffening the suspension, adjusting valving and that sort of thing is illegal. This is clearly not, they are still just turning the wheels with the steering wheel. They are turning them independently, but that’s not against the rules…
