I drove my Grand Cherokee into a mud/waterhole and it survived. I asked the guy on the other side of the waterhole if it was deep, he said it was fine, I should go for it. He was driving a litttle Suzuki so I figured I was alright. He also had a winch and waited for me.

Not really. The G-wagen drives a lot better than a Wrangler and is actually very good offroad. I own a Jeep, so I’m not biased at all. The Landrover is completely useless as a normal car. It’s slow, leaky, noisy and a lot of work to drive. Pretty much any 4x4 you can buy now is better to drive on the road.

Isn’t this a very small part of Turkey that they crossed, like a few kilometres or so? It looks like the jet wasn’t in Turkisch airspace for more than a few seconds if that’s true. Not that I know anything about jets or airspace rules or anything.. Just wondering.

I like that skateboard mount, sort of like they put wakeboards on a boat rack. Now I will have to make something like that for snowboards on ye olde suv.

This is true. I did a pretty serious trail down some mountians to reach a lake in the French Alps. I have a slightly lifted Grand Cherokee with bigger tires, and had to take it really easy because a lot of the trail was washed out by massive rain and pretty steep.

My very first driving lesson was about as bad as it gets. It’s also a prelude to the rest of my automotive life.

To be fair, even my Jeep doesn’t survive a few years on the trail without some kind of repair or fix. A few days more like it.
