They have a larger economy, industrial capacity and population. In the next 10-15 years they will start legitimately boosting their military and knock America off top peg (in their mind ideally without firing a shot).

China has a bigger economy, industrial capacity, and population than America. America has a larger military that is aging and expensive to maintain. In essence America is the USSR in 1975. Without radical change America will suffer the fall in power as the USSR.

Listen to old Trump comments from the early 2000's. He thinks China is the enemy and that you need to ally with Russia to beat them, just as Nixon beat the USSR by allying with Mao.

I would point out that Crimea by treaty is supposed to have autonomy from Kiev but that was violated by a Ukrainian invasion in 1997. Almost no one in Crimea likes Ukraine because of that. You could have the vote a million times with anyone you want looking over it, the result would be the same.
