Definitely the straight cash profiteering part.  Very little of that cost goes back into roads, bridges, etc. in the US.

Markets can be and are, gamed and manipulated.

Oil companies don’t set oil prices. The markets do. We can wring ours hands about them but it’s the market and investors doing this. The only thing we can lay at their door is they are happy to reap the rewards but have no interest in increasing production in the US.

You are aware that America is a nightmarishly corrupt corporate dystopia, right? All but maybe seven representatives and senators work for our glorious capitalist oligarch masters.

I seriously cross shopped the Arteon when I got my A4. The Arteon loaded leased out a little higher than my mid tier trim A4, so it was a pretty simple decision for me. Had the R motor been an option at the time it might have made a difference. It’s a BEAUTIFUL car in person.
