I have been inside about 6 different Phaeton’s. I was in the market to buy one about 5 years ago once they were (are) worth nothing. It just wasnt special enough to get me to bite.

“The Phaeton looked like a VW. So much so that it looks exactly like a Jetta of the era, except a little longer. The interior....looks like a Jetta with a big (for the time) nav screen. Its not special. No matter what bones its shares with its more elite big brother. Its a good car, with a wild story, but far from…
I agree with you on this, Cadillac needs to set it self apart on surface and Drivetrain. Switch gear shouldn’t be shared and regardless of hinges and other possible GM shared components, everything you touch and see should be top tier.
Corolla = Cheap shitbox.
I think you’re confusing Cadillac with Lexus on that one cheif.
The Phaeton rode on the same platform as the Bentley Continental.
Cadillac’s name has never held any weight to Bentley. It would make no sense for them to move that far up the bracket with the heritage of such vehicles like the Cimarron, 1981 Fleetwood, or really anything since the 80s.
“So we really have to hit the ball here,”
Buick finished 3rd in Consumer Reports a year or two ago only behind Toyota and Lexus and they never talked about it an ad. Hell the Regal was their top rated sport sedan.Shows how dumb GM can be and how little they care about Buick.
No one challenged it because they’re paid not to.
We have not altered our marketing campaigns because of any concerns with the accuracy of our ad content.
I wonder where the clips are showing the “real people” calling bullshit. How many takes exist where Chevy didn't get an agreeable audience...or got an underwhelmed audience?
I saw the ad for the first time this weekend. I turned to my wife and said “I guarantee you this is based on some stupid metric no one cares about” Well, there you go.
Meanwhile, IndyCar just signed a huge new title sponsor, Formula E doesn’t suck anymore, and the Rolex 24 is next weekend.
Amen. I hope the higher ups at GM read this. I truly do - they’ve been phoning it in for quite some time and it caught up with them. Its time they started leading the market and stop reacting to it halfheartedly - and reacting years later no less.
Co-signed 100% on this. Nicely written.
Thank you, this is the most intelligent response I’ve read in a long time on this site. Nailed it!, I 100% agree with every point you make. Its understandable to loose faith in a company that constantly over-promises then under-delivers. Case in point, the EV concept...are we supposed to believe that vertical 1" wide…
The XT6 exterior would make for a nice Chevy. It totally fails at achieving a level of elegant sophistication commensurate with Cadillac prices.
And Cadillac is somehow going to win that war? Please. They can’t even beat the Germans.
As a long time GMer, I’m so done with the fucking excuses and mismanagement and hollow vapid ra-ra quotes that don’t amount to shit. Always late to the party and looks as if they just got dressed. The worst kind of late. If you’re gonna be late, at least make an entrance. Have the room entranced. Cadillac does neither.
