hell yeah

That’s a hell of a build man.

Looked like a clean van, shoulda kept it an boosted the 3.0.

I especially liked reading you got your daughter involved and she wants to study mechanical engineering. Awesome.

I like to think it was a decent investment in “spare” time. Like mentioned below, “the dollar to memory ratio” is in astronomical territory for me. Family, culture, and entertainment? I’m in!

I dig this a lot. SL2's have a special place in my heart as it was the first car I drove with a manual. Love the commitment to an otherwise boring cheap car.

I really thought I’d hate this. A Saturn? And and SL2? It’s a meh car all the way. But... Holy shit Batman. I was sure he’d stretched it too. Only thing I’d change is the riveted in plexi window. Idk how much it would cost to have a windshield ground to fit but the rest of the car is so smooth, it jumps out at me.

Father/daughter time > Father/hooker time.

This is my favorite kind of build!

Having maintained multiple S-series Saturns over about a decade I have a grudging respect for them. They’re easy to work on ( you can change a transmission solenoid in ~1&1/2 hours: no spitting the case!!), and are pretty decent if cared for.

Look carefully in the 5th from last picture, you can see the LED strip between the trunk lid and the old lights. Its tucked under the little “spoiler” seam.

Ah I see. Not sure if that’s legal though. I know some states require a certain area in sq inches that has the be the brake lights and blinkers. I think it is state by state though and New Mexico may not really care.

There was a tiny mention of the tail lights in the article. They’re shaved and instead he ran the tail lights under the spoiler. You can see them in fourth photo from the bottom of the article.

This is amazing! Good find and incredible work Garcia!!

It was $1,500 and he got to spend time with his daughter building something together. I count that as money (and time) extremely well spent.

I love Saturns, and I love this.

The dollar-to-memory ratio is exceptional here.

He did the impossible.

Fun fact- there’s a whole car culture of people building these chop-tops that they like to call “Flatter Saturn.”

If he spent more than $10k on this, I would say the money would have been better invested in hookers and blow. But since he only has $1,500 invested, I would say that’s money and father/daughter time well spent.
