“Catch” is normally a transitive verb, requiring a subject and object, eg. “he catches the ball”. “Catch fire” uses the verb transitively as well, but it has a different meaning of “catch” than normal.

My guess is that they will up the penalties on shooting at congressmen and senators but otherwise do not a damn thing to make it easier to keep guns out of the hands of people who have no business having one.
