The article was well received. The title wasn’t. The title itself rubs even men who get it the wrong way. We need to be careful with how we generalize, especially inward. If we want progress, we just need to consider taking the most efficient route. I agreed with the article, but absolutely annoyed by the comparison.

so i guess the general black women’s discussion surrounding their “preferences” for dark skin men are just that, preferences? or can we acknowledge the problematic ways in which we attach male complexions to certain emotions, too. colorism or nah?

let’s not talk about colorism. I agree with everything he said. black men, we need to concede these points and check ourselves and our brothers. but colorism works both ways and the way in which black women discuss light skin v dark skin men is also problematic.
