but a million braindead hillbillies”

Was it really mostly hillbillies?  Seems the worst shortages are in high pop. density urban/metro areas

30 years later these are just unsafe hulks which will hopefully be destroyed in the next cash-for-clunkers scheme.”

Time go go cry home to mommy

Tomorrows car guy doesn’t really care what yesterday’s car guy was into.”

Huh?

Way to pat yourself on the back there bub

I’m running a ‘98 R/T sedan with the 150hp DOHC engine as a asphalt oval track car against swarms of VTEC Hondas

That’s creased/bunched leather that was common in the 90s ya dingleberry

The Neon is much nicer to drive than a new Fit, I’m not kidding.

I think a lot of commenters here are underappreciating how how astounding 132hp (with a commensurate amount of torque) was in the subcompact class populated by 106hp Civics and such.  And that was the Neon’s BASE engine.

No, they truly are fun to drive in a small-fwd (GTi, Civic Si) type of way, and were every bit as quick (quicker, actually) than those aforementioned cars of the same years.

Consider that “only” 132hp gave it something like 25% more power than a comparable Civic, and that 132hp came with a nice bit of torque owing to the larger displacement (2.0L) relative to the usual Japanese suspects.

What’s that do for the seats themselves bub

The new gen GM SUVs look like g*ddamn minivans with those low hanging slab sides and IRS.  Horrible, just plain horrible.

My comment elsewhere:
The 2.8 and its various 60 degree brethren have one of the unexpectedly nicest raspiest exhaust notes ever. I recently heard some gaudy orange BMW X-something M-something pull out of a parking lot, sounded just like an old A-body with a hole in the muffler, was excited to see what wonderful

I’d still take the 2.8.  A headgasket on these brick-simple cast iron OHV V6s, is the rear head access that bad?  My 3800 Park Ave is a dream as far as rear-bank access goes.

A broad brush applied correctly

NP all day, but boy do I wish it had the 2.8L V6

I’ll take the Iron Duke over that godawful 2.8l v6 any day”

What in the hell are you smokin bud? The 2.8 and its various 60 degree brethren have one of the unexpectedly nicest raspiest exhaust notes ever. I recently heard some gaudy orange BMW X-something M-something pull out of a parking lot, sounded just like an old

8ft bed?

Except for being able to fold/remove the second row of seats, or to have something not eye-searingly ugly in the garage.  What happened to Toyota making normal/plain/mildly-handsome looking cars?  Everything is some kind of aggressive insect/deep sea creature.  Not like that styling improves the utility in any way

the rear seats were comfortable for my 6'4" roommate.”

No, no they weren’t, unless the person in front is small child-height.
