Hot as in... fantastically ugly?
I’ll say my family went from a 1990 Civic wagon which in some ways was even less refined (harsher ride) than our new 2007 Fit, but even that Civic held the road better at highway speeds and the seats were decent enough. The Fit is somehow uniquely awful on long trips (in my personal experience). The tall center of…
Agree on all points, and I’m an RT43 fan. Put the new Continental TrueContant on ours just to try something different and they were the same price (and I have dedicated snows for the winter), but my bro and I have always defaulted to the RT43 for an all arounder
“for this purpose”
IE for a long road trip, presumably one you’d like to enjoy, the Fit is NOT a good choice. Short wheelbase, tall profile that catches crosswind and truck blast, complete lack of sound insulation. Add to that uncomfortable seats for tall people.
yeah, no it really, truly sucks for highway driving.
Ah, the Adolf Hitler/Bill Gates angle... I’m personally not a fan.
Better start making edible money once it becomes completely devalued
“I did my part by not breeding... ...Do the Earth a favor, have yourself spayed or neutered.”
Pathetic.
Do you still have the Michelin Energy Saver tires on it? Do you use the “Eco mode?”
They seem pretty sensitive to conditions/speed. Never seen better than 26-27 loaded up in my ‘16 T&C. Typical mixed use gets us 21-22mpg which is about what I expect for a 4500lb vehicle with a 283hp V6.
I test drove one and loved it, went looking at cars.com for used ones and an astounding number of lemon-law’d cars were popping up. Never seen such a thing before. Hopefully by now they’ve got it sorted out. The 3.6 GM motor is no peach either, with its timing chain issues (revised numerous times at this point,…
I was getting an indicated 42-43mpg on a highway drive in a Jetta, not exactly babying it either (75-77mph). I’ve heard of people getting even more staying closer to 70. Factor in the cost of fuel and extra cost up front to buy the TDI, I simply don’t see where the payoff is.
Caravan?
The Colorado diesels also have a bit of a reputation for being Lemon-Law champs, so there’s that.
Modern direct injected turbocharged gas engines are very diesel-like in their power delivery and economy, but without the expense of diesel fuel or diesel emissions equipment. I’ve had rental VWs with the 1.4TSI/1.8TSI knock down low-mid 40mpg, the diesel appeal just plain isn’t there. Even in pickup trucks, the…
Oh I agree there, I owned an ‘03 Pilot EX-L briefly that I flipped (for a tremendous profit), Honda is the king of packaging in terms of cubic ft of interior room per inch of exterior length. The J series V6 is a tank (mine did use a bit of oil at 185k), and the transmissions seem to last a lot longer than they do in…
“and its a Toyota”
One that burned a horrible amount of oil in the 2008-2009 model years
Eric had a mental breakdown in South Dakota after driving his Fit across country lol. Nice around town cars, horrible on the highway
An older automatic Fit won’t get that great of mileage, low 30s. They’re also horrid on long highway drives.
If you’ve ever been in an older Fit on any sort of longer highway trip, you wouldn’t make this suggestion lol
“Three-row seating amounts of room inside”
I get what you’re saying, but the third row in those is a bad joke.
