I’ve had rental Elantras and Jettas and even a Passat clip 40mpg in sustained highway running.

The real inflation rate is way higher than anyone is willing to publicly admit
Drive one of these and a Honda Fit back to back and get back to me. One of them can sling you across the US in total comfort, the other.... can’t. Just read up on Shilling’s mental breakdown driving his Fit across the US lmao
Great suggestion. Only a small correction, these are the GM H platform (and related, the larger “C” that was the Park Ave). G-body died with the last RWD Monte Carlos/Cutlass Supremes/etc
Currently dailying a $400 ‘91 Park Ave that I saved from the crusher. This baby is made to cruise. Parts are freakishly cheap as…
LMAO came here to make this comment
Shilling had a mental breakdown in the Dakotas after driving that crackerbox just half-way. Then again, there are deeper issues there...
My parents have owned a ‘07 with a stick since new. As fantastic of a city runabout as it is, it is one of the worst highway cars I’ve experienced,…
Where are you finding Prius Cs or Vs (that aren’t completely trashed junk) for $4500?
There have been so many modern cars with timing chain/tensioner issues that I think you questioning timing belts is truly laughable.
No they suck, except when in motorcycles or some oddball Kei-car
They lost me after the GMT800: no more steel bumpers on the SUVs, AFM that caused lifter wear and oil burning issues on the excellent LS engines, just overall cheaper interiors, etc (although the 400/800 have their share of cheapness on the inside).
Hey brain-dead, buying a clean well kept utilitarian SUV for weekend hauling rather than blowing $40k+ on something new to get that same utility is just about the definition of financial prudence
Yeah, it’s black people lmao. Is that a problem?
The Suburban is definitely the way to go. Just insane utility for people+things+towing (added wheelbase never hurts for added stability when towing).
IMO for the fullsize SUVs, yo go big or go home. Aside from this being a big block 2500 (they didn’t make tahoes in HD form), comparing 1500 to 1500, the added utility of the Suburban is a no brainer, you’re already paying the fuel bill. The only “Cost” is ease of parking, and you get used to that. I love my GMT800…
U mad?

Every spring (tax refund season) there is an explosion of ex-fleet Sentras and Altimas on temp tags flying around the hood, weaving in and out of traffic etc. A good amount of them get wrecked (then rebuilt and put back on the lot of a buy here pay here lot, starting the cycle over again)
“On the bright side it’s a Mazda so I expect it to be worth more than I owe until it’s paid off.”
Don’t count your chickens. Don’t get me wrong they’re good cars and built well (arguably better built than even Honda/Toyota these days), but historically the resale has lagged.
Armada SV: 30-31k lightly used, the current DI 5.6L blows the GM 5.3L out of the water (although towing with IRS is worse, but now GM has joined everyone else with this “feature”). Velour seats feel nicer than most leather in this class, nice cushy sidewalls on 18 inch wheels. Expedition has nice numbers and interior…
Yeah my family owned a ‘89 4cyl Mazda MPV with a whopping 126hp, and later a V6 variant of the same, 4000lb curb weight, 155hp V6 that sucked gas. My 283hp Town&Country is a vastly better car to drive. I too survived, but that doesn’t mean I want to go back.
What the hell does this have to do with 4500+lb minivans that are then loaded up with 1000lb+ of payload?
Your original complaint was that the V8 could only be coupled to an automatic, my point was that this was par for the course by that point (BMW being the exception with their 540i/M5)
