What a thoughtful and well-written response. I’ve said this a lot in conversations with friends, but this juror’s statement is another example of how this was a “good” case - as in, there were eye witnesses, the police did what they should have done, the jury did what they should have done - and yet the punishment

Here’s Gerber dressed as the captain of an unlicensed Brady Bunch-themed gay cruise illegally owned and operated by teens

Before you labeled the one young man as Hadid’s son, I legit thought that was Matthew Perry’s child.

“Here’s Gerber dressed as the captain of an unlicensed Brady Bunch-themed gay cruise illegally owned and operated by teens.”

Eh, from all evidence it was a mutually toxic relationship. At least, not to the point any individual is worth our actual support. Two violent and egocentric people are having a private conflict in public. I think they’re both getting serious hard-ons from the coverage.

How good do you think it felt to be the staffer that wrote that and got it approved? I’d be like

So... I read this entire story as “Parents, you have to get your kid out of here, because your family is bringing too much heat on us! We just want to keep make money scamming fanatical homophobic suckers like you guys for the long term!” and “It’s OK for us to be known as these bigots in our family, but we don’t want

You win the internet. It’s a rare day when someone manages to make someone else reconsider their position over the internet. Safe to say I would not engage in this on people.com, tmz or on Heard’s imdb page, which are all overflowing with various deviations of “slut”, “whore”, “gold-digger”, “psychopath” and so on.

I’m not married to the outcome of this either, I find it fascinating how the media covers this, though. The comments on bisexuality=slut (“what did he expect?”) for instance point to homophobia and sexism that is more prevalent than I would have believed. And that’s just one of the fascinating dynamics at play here.

My speculative take is that he was a functioning addict for so long that people just forgot about the Viper Room days back in the early 90ies, he hasn’t pulled a Mel Gibson in many years. From the looks of him, how bloated and unhealthy and how much older he looks compared to just four or five years ago, I get the

Why are you so determined to defend a woman who was actually charged with domestic abuse in a story about domestic abuse? That’s one more goddamn DA charge than Depp has! Oh, but Depp has no bruises of undetermined origin or vaguely worded texts, so he’s the undisputed bad guy here. Sounds legit.

I know why you posted it, and my response was just to express my weariness with this whole situation, because we can find plenty of old quotes to support the idea that Johnny Depp is a hotheaded, addicted mess, as well as quotes that support the idea that Amber Heard seems like a self-aggrandizing jerk (and a classist

Her having a bruise goesn’t negate her being the aggressor. Now I think Depp is likely at least as guilty as her and likely more so given a wide history of him being a drug fueled mess. I just wanted to point out that someone having a bruise doesn’t inherently mean that they are the victim.

Questionable Pasta is my new band name!

I believe this is probably a toxic relationship where each of them has gotten out of control angry with each other.

It’s not. And I didn’t paste that quote to cast doubt on Heard but to point out that we can play the “dredge up old quotes to prove a point” game all day.

Are you saying the police got excited about 2 girls quarrelling at the airport and overreacted, arresting one of the girls for domestic violence (as opposed to both of them for assault/battery or disturbing the peace or whatever).

I don’t think it’s huge considering that Depp has prior arrests as well. And I can imagine that two people fighting at an airport would lead to an overreaction from police. Add homophobia to that and I can see how a minor incident might have been overblown. This is not to say Heard’s never gotten aggressive with Depp.

Defend? LOL. Could give a fuck about Depp (but I don’t), I just wonder, why is Depp automatically guilty when he has no record of domestic violence and Amber is automatically innocent when she has an arrest on her record?

Last but not least, can we all just take a moment to appreciate what a genius bit of acting Alfie Allen pulled off in that scene?
