Thrive? Uber is thriving?

Want to enjoy golf? Commit to spending (at least) an hour on the putting and chipping green for every round you play. Your scores will drop dramatically once you clean up your short game. Way too many players hit an occasional range bucket and wonder why they never get any better. Then they go out and drive the ball

Regardless of how you get there, the real key to any bunker shot is not to quit on the swing. Most weekend warriors think they need to dig into the sand or limit their follow-through because they are afraid of launching the ball over the green. If your swing stops with your club in the sand, you’re doing it wrong.

...stop trying to overhit the ball.

That’s quite true, but something has to account for such a different performance between the two Mercedes, in the same track, at the same time and with the same tires: though I don’t undervalue Bottas capabilities I’m not sure that the entirety of the time differential was in Bottas’ superior hability to maintain the

The “good” news for most of us is that auto loans are very rarely securitized, at least compared to mortgages. Nobody ever mistakenly believed in cars as a long-term investment upon which we could build an economy. They’ve always been crappy deals, to varying degrees. There’s no hope for appreciation like there is

Who could resist the lure of the superior potassium?

Woops. Not sure where the “sports” came from. I mistyped. (Obvs a Jetta isn’t a sportscar. Fixed)

And... It states on the video that was the turbulence... (at 10 seconds) that rocked the cables...

Wait a minute. All I see is the camera falling, not the cable. The broadcast announcer said it was turbulence from the proximity of the plane pass that caused it, not a direct strike. So which is it?

Confused where you got the information that the wire was clipped. The video just says (and shows) that the turbulence created by the aircraft cause the camera to shake back and forth violently and break off from its mount...

I know your not saying otherwise, but just for others coming into the conversation, you can increase your basis by maintenance and repair.

So they shouldn’t report on a newsworthy story, because you’re a greedy asshole?

I’ve had multiple offers to move there (and I’m keeping that in my back pocket as an option given the current government in the US). Trouble is that all my family is in the UK, which is literally the opposite side of the world from NZ, which makes everything awkward and expensive.

don’t forget the old/disabled and families with young children that book even ahead of First/Diamond (Plat/Gold get Sky boarding, not Prem).

As Gold Medallion I doubt that option would even show up on your bookings. Can’t say for sure as I’m not quite there yet!

Agreed. I’ve heard tons of “I talked my way into a first class upgrade!” stories, and while they sound cool on the surface, when you start to get more information, they almost always fall into one of these categories:

I’ve seen it and I’ve been it.

I used to count how many people boarded for First Class on a plane that has 16 First Class seats.... the average is about 30-32.... even taking the Platinum Medallions out of the mix, that’s still too much.

Several times I’ve been the First person in C+ and have seen 10-15 people sitting
