Use the repair savings to buy a Miata as a toy.

Counterpoint: I bought the cheapest z3 I could find earlier this year. It was a high mileage, high-school-kid-owned example that had no service records and had been pretty beat on. I’ve put about 7000 miles on it and haven’t spent more than 500 hundred dollars on it (new top, transmission seal, and giubo bushing).

Agreed. I’m anti-Hamilton but he pulled off the only strategy he had and he did it admirably. Disobeying team orders shouldn’t cost him much since it all worked out in the end for Mercedes. Toto should give him a few extra PR events to do since he loves those so much.

If you are generally healthy, or young, or have no pre-existing conditions, you WERE the hope of the ACA being affordable.

It kinda sucks that leasees still need to have a lease turn-in inspection done. I mean, I get that theoretically VW/Audi could potentially re-sell the leased cars, if/when they find an adequate modification. But AFAIK, owners are getting a value based on “good” condition, regardless of the actual condition of their

The S4 actually competed with the M3 at one point in time. Then they ripped out the V8 and it was relegated to compete with the 335, now 340.

I also own one. I do about 28k a year, and am in a similar situation as you. I look at it like this: They are offering free use of the car since the scandal broke, but only at the specified mileage (1040 per month or whatever). Any miles above and beyond that “typical” amount will be reflected in the buyback amount.

If this were my video I would have left the beginning part off. Dashcam guy is a dick for making everybody behind him wait while he tries to get the bus to understand he’s letting him in. If you have the right of way, go.

Follow the rules of the road! The dashcam driver should not have stopped to let the school bus go because it was “the nice thing to do”. What about the drivers behind him that now have to wait and will miss the light? That said, the BMW driver is clearly an idiot.

I came here to say this very thing! I’m not defending the BMW driver, but... The dashcam driver should not have disrupted the flow of traffic and given up his “right of way” to allow the school bus in line. As drivers, we have a responsibility to keep traffic flowing. Letting others in is polite, and we should

PREACH. BMW driver was an idiot for sure, but fucking up traffic to pat yourself on the back for being nice makes you a bigger idiot.

Yeah, I agree- I’m pretty sure the horn was from the BMW. He was probably protesting because he had more right-of-way than the school bus did in the first few seconds of the video. The camera-car was not only illegally “directing traffic”, but also creating a lot of hesitation that was holding up traffic even more

To be fair, it is pretty annoying when there’s someone in front of you taking their sweet ass time and then they cruise through a yellow or red when they finally get to the light. Rather than passing and crashing for everyone’s amusement on the internet this guy would have been better off doing the same as everyone

Not to defend the Asshat BMW driver’s actions, but she shouldn’t have let the bus out, she had right of way.

If that is the case the dashcam owner practices backwards courtesy which is a leading cause of congestion, annoyance, and collisions. Backward courtesy is where the person practicing it decides to be nice to person A at the expense of person B instead of following the written rules of the road.

I read that ‘fund’ aspect as being the separate remediation fund for general TDI/NOx pollution, not the “how to us poor duped consumers retrieve our comeuppance” fund. I’m still hoping I head straight to the local VW dealer and they cut me a check.

You know how I knew NYC would be at the top of the list? Because people who live there take every opportunity to talk about how it’s the best city, like they all have an inferiority complex. It’s like listening to Trump keep insisting that his hands aren’t small.

I lemon lawed my 2013 Golf R last year. I agree that was nice to have driven the car for two years for almost free. Unfortunately, VW was a PITA when it came down to the LL process. I followed my states guidelines and submitted all the paperwork which clearly showed that my car qualified under my states LL laws. VW

I have a friend who wants to put a diesel engine in one. This is perfect for that. Obviously resale value is not an issue.

Yup. Federal standards are a must. This may be the first big recall that makes un-fixed cars not road legal.
