All kinds of fun things with the M4 GTS I owned. You really don’t want one outside of the warranty.

Not at all.
I bought a Civic Type R in July of ‘19 for $36.6k (MSRP at the time).
Cars need to be smaller and/or have less downforce.
As you alluded to at the end of your post, there is a reason we have so many itemized fees / additional costs. It’s because most consumers aren’t sophisticated and will buy whatever has the lowest advertised price.
$250 is chump change.
I don’t think you understand the budget cap. It includes design/development resources, so Mercedes will actually not have substantially more staff than other teams (as has been the case previously - they had 4-5x the staff of the smaller guys).
I hate that Mercedes always wins, but I hate this more. F1 should be bleeding edge - pushing the newest/best materials to the limit. Obviously I understand that unlimited budgets mean the little guys can never truly compete, but they also make for some amazing developments and allow teams to employ a lot more people.
This is directly from PCNA’s internal processes for dealerships/European delivery.
Yeah I understood the QoTD, my point was that it’s not really an accurate picture. Combined purchase price for me = $294k
The actual killer is maintenance/insurance/interest for me. Based solely on purchase/sales price, I’m somehow net positive.
I think definitely. My number was $294k, but that’s because I basically swap cars every year. My net number is actually positive if you exclude maintenance/interest/insurance (which is not realistic but is difficult to calculate).
I would actually be interested to know the true capital cost per year.
I’ve bought way too many cars over the years, but we’ll try:
Not sure where you got this information from, but it is not true for Porsche.
Yes, there is typically a time when that is possible. Usually just before the 99x.2 variant comes out. But market forces have a lot to do with that as well. Everything is so hot right now, you’d need a serious dip before that kind of deal was available.
They do Euro delivery but no discounts and dealers hate doing it because they make less + have to waste a precious allocation.
Unfortunately that’s not how advertising works.
There are some times of year better than others, and being close to the waterfront = consistent breeze with 10+ F lower temps.
You might be the only person in the world. South Florida away from the beach breeze is absolutely brutal in summer.
