Positive reviews on Steam don’t really mean very much. Most are just jokes.

So, they still run standard Win32 .exes that can be used on any compatible platform. Unlike UWP and Windows Store.
They also have a direct line of communication with their customers and forums for each game.
Unlike Windows Store.
well ... there is one other choice amazingly ... it’s called windows 7 ... just a hair slower than win10 ... and without directx12 but without all the clogged pipes.
well ... since the firewall is built in with the os ... then it’s gonna allow them. unless you start customizing that and manually blocking os processes.
sure, every piece of software can be customized ... but you shouldn’t need to do it to that extent.
That’s not the issue. In fact, in the original Op-Ed piece, Sweeney specifically says he’s not complaining about the existence of another storefront/launcher. What he’s talking about is:
while it’s faster, better, prettier than win7 ... it’s also riddled with services that pose a serious privacy threat. it’s hard-wired to connect to their servers and it does so even after you’ve spent hours stopping all of the online services that you can stop. i did that and after a couple of hours of disabling stuff…
This isn’t a case of “just another launcher”. Microsoft has done nothing but shit on PC gaming ever since they came up with the Xbox, and now with Windows 10 they’re trying to corral as much software as possible into an Apple-style app ecosystem which they can control and monetize, the antithesis of what made Windows…
and you are right on all those accounts. it’s faster, better, prettier.
but the problem is about privacy. and the fact that it’s hard-wired to do something online. i don’t know what but for some reason it still kept connecting to microsoft servers even after i’ve spent hours disabling all its online services.
even after you’ve spent hours stopping all its online services ... it still connects to their servers for god knows what reason. basically it’s about privacy. it’s a great operating system, just too hard-wired into the online.
well microsoft did give us a new free car ... but in exchange they asked for the freedom to come into our house every time they feel like it.
that’s not a deal i’m ok with.
ideally i would recommend a pirated version of windows 10 stripped down of any online features the base version has. though not sure if something…
You missed the key difference between what Ms does and what everyone else is doing. Ms is locking their OS down by default and routing all developers into their services. In order to escape that situation you have to go through a consumer unfriendly process. The sort of thing that makes most gamers throw their hands…
Except the way Microsoft is doing it is WAY differernt than what Valve does. Microsoft wants to Lock It Down and Lock it to DX12. Encrypt your Save and Executable files. Prevent Devs from selling through other channels. And rub console-ites ALL over the glorious PC. Try installing modes on that crap.
But does their launcher encrypt your executable and save files so you can’t access them? And I doubt is locks non DX12 games to DX12 so you can only play them on windows 10 *cough* gears of war *cough*
yeah ... except epic is a car manufacturer that wants control over their cars while microsoft is the city hall that wants control over the roads.
Well, Valve doesn't make it so that you have to write the game heavily integrated with Steam and then have a hard time offering it elsewhere.
The biggest problem with the current system is that SLI does not work and games run only in Windowed Fullscreen mode. Also overlays that show FPS, performance enhancers etc. do not work on the platform. This turns off serious PC gamers wanting performance, people that Microsoft SHOULD try and get on their side.
Let’s look at the past 20 years for Olympics
It is appalling that millennials who either weren’t alive or were barely talking yet in 1994 are intensely criticizing Hillary Clinton for a piece of legislation they know nothing about, absent any context whatsoever. It’s shameful.
100% endorsed. I’m a Sanders supporter, but this is the correct answer. Electing Obama didn’t End Racism or anything like that, but it is proof that getting involved in the system can work. You can get elected and you can make a difference once you do.
I’m black and voting for Hillary. #SorrynotSorry. I don’t find this condescending at all. Why don’t you get in government IS the right answer. I’m so tired of all these whiny people running around complaining all the politicians are in someone’s pocket or are “UNAUTHENTIC” . GO BE A POLITICIAN Then. That’s an…
