I would have no problem with using “guys” for everyone, but I recognize that, although it is occassionally used for women, if I said “I watched the game with the guys yesterday,” 99% of people will assume I mean males.

It depends on the context. If some of the men were under the age of 18, it would, of course, be problematic. For guys, we have, well, “guy(s),” and “dude(s),” because saying “man/men” in every context would just be weird. “Gals” will never work. Ever. “Ladies” can come off as sleezy.…
