I champion the Mazda RX-7 FD.
I champion the Mazda RX-7 FD.
My brother just finished one of these. He uses it to take his wife and kids to the beach and so on.
How is this even a question?
Back in high school, went to the beach many times in a friends. It is a great beach car.
I gotta ask: Where does your perception that Wranglers are unreliable come from?
(This is a genuine question. I ask because I struggle to think of a more reliable machine than a 4.0-powered TJ.)
I’m not even a jeep guy and I know this is true. Rented a 4 door wrangler in HI and immediately took the doors off. It was a fantastic beachmobile.
There is no better answer, and nothing else even comes close.
CJ then.
Working on one of these right now. I got it for a price I couldn’t pass up and I hope it pays off!
Gotta be a Wrangler with no doors!
That’s a Falcon wagon, the fairly rare 2 door model.
Sorry, but RTierney is correct.
They ride terrible, have security issues (secure your valuables HA!), and reliability is garbage, but it’s probably the only thing that checks all of the boxes.
Cadillac Eldorado is always the answer
You’re nuts. Doors off and it’s the greatest beach machine there ever was. Load up a surf board, tow a boat, grab your beer out a cooler in back... I dare you to name a better beach mobile.
Wrangler is the perfect beach car. Hot summer day? Top off, doors off, cooler in the back... If you get the 4-door, you can take 4 of your friends, and still have room for that cooler. You can drive on the sand if your area allows it. (I have seen bagged jettas make it across the sand in Pismo...) and, when you are…
Not to mention the ability to drive on the beach as well (not that other vehicles aren’t capable but it has the combination of everything great for the beach).
A simple, light, fun convertible. Easy to wash, not going to be too affected by sand. American? American would be nice. Maybe with some California back story. Good surf vibe.
Disclaimer: I live in Ohio so I don’t know what a beach car is other than what I saw on TV when I was a kid in the 70's.
Wrangler is the only option. Run with the top off or down when the weather is right. 4WD when the weather is not. You could buy something else, but, you’d be wrong.
minus that dude though LOL
