I’ll agree that’s what changed it for motorcycles, but cars would have headed that direction anyway, especially once the advantages became apparent. The car market is much bigger and more competitive, and anything still with a carburetor would have quickly become a niche product.

Branches? They rarely get higher than a bit of leaves. Rocks? Same for the most part. Anything large enough you can’t clear it with a sedan is probably going to be a problem for your SUV

Even Jeep has done this, back in the early 90's. They have the same size fuel tank, but the standard 15 gallon tank had a longer vent hose not allowing it to fill to the full 20 gallons.
