Endanger their families?? Since when do Black folks retaliate against the families of police who’ve done them wrong?? Never. Never, ever? Never, ever, ever!

This is like white people fearful of a “race war” There are statistically zero Black people who want to go to war with all of the white people in the US.

I’ve worked retail/food service on an off for more than 20 years! At no time ever, never ever, have I or any of my colleagues ever contemplated calling the police when customers were in the store 15-20, even 30 minutes after we closed. Never, ever!

Why? You made it, you gave it. It’s not yours anymore. It’s your intent and the effort you put into it that counts, not how they receive it.

I’m a quilter and I like to give quilts, because if I paid myself the $20/$30 artisan rate and the cost of supplies, it would be more than I could afford to spend to buy someone a gift ($300 - $500).

ALSO, they’ll keep and use that quilt and remember who gave it to them for way longer than they’ll remember who gave…

Why don’t folks just register for the things they really want/need? Register at the grocery store, REI, Home Depot, Roto Rooter, or whatever. If you’re going to use the cash to buy the thing you “need” anyway, have your guests buy the thing you need. They feel good, you have what you need, et violà, you’re done.
