I meant wasted as in this card can likely outdo the real-world upper limits of the eGPU interface (Thunderbolt overhead, the quality of the enclosure, the laptop’s internals, etc.) I would expect a 4080 and 4090 to perform about the same as an eGPU, given benchmarks from previous-gen cards.

Is this turning into some sort of live service nonsense? I’m halfway interested in giving this a go-round, but having timed content, battle pass-like leveling and such sounds more exhausting than enjoyable.
