It might be the oldest international tournament but it is easily the worst run in the last 20 years.

You aren’t going to win that voting block no matter what. Again this isn’t reaching out, the aim is suppression. Don’t make Trump a martyr or give him ammo to play a victim. Yes, ignore the wishes of your own base, especially in districts where Dems won during the mid-term that Trump won in 2016. The base is going to

So I guess by that people don’t want him investigated. Nancy better stop then.

The problem with that, is Trump can do a lot of damage in 18 months. I think it’s better to keep poking around, investigating them and dragging things in public.

I think Pelosi learned the wrong lessons from Clinton’s impeachment. It backfired on the Republicans because it was obvious BS. Yes, he lied under oath. But I never felt that rose to “high crimes”.

Is there any evidence, beyond Splinter rhetoric, that (1) Americans perceive not impeaching Trump as a sign of “weakness” and (2) that this perception has any actual impact on electoral outcomes?

When you’re trying to decide whether to enter a losing battle, you really do need to look closely at the potential consequences of inevitable failure.

They’ve already gone on the record about their stance. This isn’t new. Yes Trump has many racist supporters but he also has supporters who felt they had been forgotten that he spoke to, that Democrats haven’t spoke to in years.

The objective is to win in 2020. Don’t give Trump a target for a rallying cry. Don’t give his base motivation to vote with impeachment proceedings. Pelosi is correct.

If bi-partisanship existed, she would pursue impeachment. She knows it doesn’t which is why she isn’t going that way. She knows there won’t be a conviction despite there being ample evidence that Trump is unfit for office.

They know bi-partisanship is shot.

Are you familiar with the Fugitive Slave Act?

Attack his surrogates similar to the attacks that were made against Holder. Draw out issues and findings to find ways to create additional scandals.

Because attacks on them aren’t direct attacks on Trump and he responds to them differently and the media teats it differently. Playing the longer, slower and more detailed game against him seems to be more effective. He doesn’t have the attention span so dragging it out will hopefully force mistakes.

Not getting convicted is because it will be completely down partisan lines. Clinton got impeached and became more popular.

They will continue to attack him through his surrogates like Barr, Mnuchin, and others. Making it a slow bleed and drip of information can do more damage without the visibility moving directly to Trump.

After he is impeached and then found not guilty in the senate, he will then claim that the Dems only want to impeach and that he was exonnerated by Mueller and now the Senate.

Their logic is based on fear. They are terrified to offend Trump’s base. Think about that for a moment. Yet they wonder why Trump wins.

Republicans won’t support impeachment and doing this gives Trump a talking point that he won a political victory against the obstructionist Dems.

Their impeachment proceedings will then move to the Senate where, unless the evidence is starkly damning, it will be dismissed as another ‘witch hunt’.
