Deadspin’s reporting and discussion on this issue has been long on criticism and short on alternatives. It’s obviously a very thorny and potentially unsolvable issue, but there have been a number of issues raised by commenters that haven’t even been acknowledged. In particular:

You can’t just assume that by them donating to R campaigns that they wanted that law to happen. It’s not like it was something discussed in the campaign, it came up later. If you’re saying “boycott any company that votes R?” GOOD LUCK!

The NCAA doesn’t really govern college football’s postseason so that’s why they probably won’t/can’t do anything about that.
