Absolutely beautiful.

This is one of the dumbest takes I’ve read on Jalopnik all year (and that’s saying a lot). The “extremely lopsided on paper” comment completely OMITS what was admitted in the very first paragraph: the Cybertruck is towing a copy of the car it’s racing!

$125k for a turn key factory racer isn’t too bad really.

This article goes on and on and never really details what the sponsorship issue actually is. Oh, they filmed here, then there was a strike, which is over, none of which is relevant to the story.

You’d think it would make sense for them to just fire the people responsible and save face, but the reality is they want their employees to do this kind of stuff because they usually get away with it. If they find a way to deny $100M of claims in a year but lose one lawsuit for $34M, they come out ahead.

I’ve heard of them referred to as “Snake Farm” for trying to weasel out of claims after natural disasters.

You guys missed the new jingle.

and what is $1mil to state farm? I mean its a lot. but are the typically giving out huge payments?

it’s like saying “no offense, but...” and then saying the most offensive thing they can muster up

When they dropped my parents’ homeowners insurance after Hurricane Andrew (and our house wasn’t even that bad, but plenty in the neighborhood were), but were more than happy to keep their auto, my parents said fuck off and never went back. A cousin we saw every year at a family reunion was married to an exec with them

For all the disagreement that exists in the automotive space, I think we can all come together on this one:

Oh deer

There are early adopters, there are most of us, then there are the laggards. There are two automotive buyer categories that I would classify as being laggards. Pickup truck buyers, and Toyota buyers. The laggards will find any excuse, and convincingly tell a thousand tales, to explain why they stay attached to old tech

This all could have been prevented if there had been a third person with a larger, higher-caliber gun who could have defused the situation.

Might be difficult. EVs tend to have low centers of gravity.

You really have to be in the V8 manual sedan ven diagram that starts and stops with this car

The 350 Oldsmobile Diesel. It was unreliable, unrefined, dirty, and it was terrible to drive. The 0-60 was around the same as the quarter mile time. Words cannot describe what it’s like driving an underpowered slow turning diesel in a land yacht with a 3 speed. This is the original reason diesel became a bad word

This does need doing periodically. The standard weight used for passengers and carry-on was adjusted in the US some years back. After a crash that was shown to have resulted from a commuter turboprop being both overweight and out of balance because the average weight used at the time was much too low.

I just don’t understand rich people. If I had a $100,000,000 yacht and the money to live on it for the rest of my life, I wouldn’t go jeopardizing everything by invading other countries and putting myself at risk of assassination and coup. I’d have just stopped after maybe 12 or 16 years of being president and
