You have your financials mixed up. Auto nterest rates are cheap, you’re better off taking your 2-3% loan on the car and investing your other cash in the market. It’s very easy to make 6-7% right now.
The bad idea would be to pay off the car quickly, unless you need the available credit for something else.

The modern 8+ speed transmissions get rid of the need for a transfer case in all but the most severe applications. They can cover 97%+ of owners without one it’s a reasonable savings.
They won’t spend the money where it’s needed, their engineering talent is very transient and even looking at the engineering specifications they produce you can see the lack of rigor compared to Ford or GM never mind Mercedes.
Sorry, but the the vast majority of people cars are image products. Enthusiasts and people looking for basic transportation are the only ones who don’t care.

It’s user error they fade. If you apply some UV protectant every few months they’ll last a very long time. You can also dye them back after the fact.
