Horror movies do have a pretty long tradition of both skewering the concept of the nuclear family and reinforcing it.

My favorite thing about Fallout 4 is that it’s the only story based game I have ever played without a theme.
I mean, Barr did suffer a traumatic brain injury at a pretty early age. She’s always acted erratically. I think in a way we have always seen the same Roseanne and her behavior is just filtered through current times and issues.
I mean, Alien is just a slasher. A beautiful slasher with wonderful production design, acting, directing, and writing; still, there are plenty of great slashers I can group it with. Halloween, Black Christmas, Psycho (I would call Psycho proto-slasher but still), and many more are either as good or better than Alien.
Nah
I imagine my perspective comes the places I frequent (Reddit and IGN for example). To me, it seems like people were absolutely desperate for something like the second film and that’s why people were really clawing for Neill Blomkamp to make his film.
Prometheus actually has a (surprising) 7 on imdb which was astonishing. I know plenty hate the movie mainly because of inconsistent characterization, unnecessary characters (Vickers), and odd comedic characters, but it seems most people appreciate the film for its visuals, Shaw’s character, and David’s character. I…
I would disagree quite a bit that any of the films are perfect (even though I love the whole series).
I don’t think fans have any sway at all, I simply think that audience’s refusal to accept 3, 4, 5, and 6 is ridiculous. 2 of those are acceptable films, 1 is complicated (Alien 3), and I would honestly say that Covenant is just as good if not better than the first two.
The series is first and foremost a director’s series. Every director brings something genuinely new and exciting with each film (Scott has even done it 3 times with each of his entries so different from one another).
Just to note, the worst thing about the Alien series is the fans. The people who “grew up” with the first two films are really the ones holding the entire series back. I mean, we got one of the most artistically developed films ever that are part of a blockbuster movie franchise (games too!), but the stupid fans of…
I think most people (especially the horrid “fans” of the series) didn’t like the comedic elements of the movie.
Resurrection works as pretty decent black comedy, imo. As an action film, ehh. As a science fiction film, ehh. I admit I would pick it up before Alien 3 (which is pretty bad), but I’d still say Alien, Aliens, and Alien: Covenant are the best films in the series.
I think he means on set, not in the industry.
I guess you’re a loathsome piece of human-sized bile just like Tambor, huh?
I lold so hard at this.
Shep’s not terrible, Jax is pretty bad, Patrick is abominable. Stassi needs to get the f out of there asap.
You know, Jax is annoying, misogynistic, emotionally manipulative, emotionally abusive, and narcissistic...still, he’s at least occasionally funny, insightful (well, about his horrible friends, not about anything really important), and still makes for good tv.
