I take pictures of cars and upload them to Wikipedia, and I generally run the chassis numbers of most cars I photograph - to check years and so on. The number of cars exhibited that have shady provenance is staggering, but what is also staggering is just how little effort it takes to find out. Half an hour with the

This is like a used Mustang, but for people over 40. I heartily agree. Plus the Mustang has a good engine/trans, but the suspension is crap. The Jag has everything you need without requiring half a dozen frame braces/suspension mods just to handle decently.

Since when do enthusiasts like commuting by car? I love cars more than most functional people, and I am overjoyed to be able to take the train to work and have two treasured machines I can futz around with and enjoy in better ways than being stuck in gridlock.

Somehow, unimaginably omitted from this list, the Fiat Panda 4x4. Feast your eyes! Warning: the interior will give you a seizure!

The TR7 first came out as a coupe only, it was a modern sports car after years of archaic roadsters from England, performance adequate for the day, not much different than the contemporary Porsche 924 and RX7, and a comfortable if not fancy cockpit. They sold very well for the first couple years.

I took partially rebuilt transmission to be changed the ATF fluid.

I think that was the one where a driver got bored and grenaded the engine on purpose.

That it was. Based on the lore I’ve read, Ford wanted to install the Mod 4.6-liter 4V in the LS and Thunderbird, but it didn’t clear the suspension when installed from below, an important consideration. Since the DEW98 platform was co-developed by Ford and Jaguar and they knew the AJV8 would fit, that’s what went in.

XF Sportbrake and he gets the wagon too.

Wait... are you saying that Jaguar V6's literally have two vestigial combustion chambers hanging off the end? This is the first I’d heard of that.

Land Rovers were a reliability nightmare in the 1990s, but post-BMW and now in the TATA era, they are much more reliable. No, they won’t take the abuse that something like a Land Cruiser will, but they are absolutely fine as long as you keep up with regular maintenance. That seems to be the issue in the US - people

I have a Polestar 2 Performance and it’s a hoot to drive! It’s very quick, handling is off the charts crazy good, and even with the Ohlins dampers cranked up a little past halfway the ride isn’t too stiff. Though the traction control (even when “off”), AWD, and super sticky tires conspire to take all drifty,

Hot Take: There’s nothing wrong with the original grill (grille?). It looks great in person.

I followed this auction and I think I understand where the seller is coming from. For the past 2 years, it’s been incredibly difficult to get any cars, let alone limited enthusiast cars. He (or she) puts their name on a few lists and the Corolla comes up. Great—I’ll buy it.

Just as long as we can still get some more “James May, Our Man In...” shows, I’ll be satisfied.

“The Integra is just a dressed-up civic!”

From a non-investor standpoint, the sales numbers and growth looks fine. Try any other car maker and you probably won’t see a growth curve like this.

They couldn’t bring back the non-squinty headlights for the special farewell edition? This car lost something when the front end moved away from this:

i love these cars, but i don’t want the silhouette of my car, on a badge that’s on my car. i don’t know if that’s meta, or inception, or meta-inception. but i think it’s kind of stupid, whatever it is.
