yeah I’ve only played the DA games on PC, so I can imagine the UI for DA:O being a mess on consoles. I’m hoping DA:I gets cheap for the summer sale, I’ve been looking forward to it (for whatever reason, I really the DA world/lore even though a lot of it is treaded ground)

Duke 3D also launched at a time when games like Quake with true 3d were also coming out though, so I’d wager that might be why it never quite took off as much.

I think one of the biggest reasons we still get new DOOM stuff is because modders were always considered when the game was being made, and the tools to make the stuff was easily made available and pretty easy/intuitive to use. I think the majority of Japanese publishers are trying to do what Konami is doing, even Capcom. Even in this press statement, they refer to MGS as an overseas game, because the console market in Japan is pretty darn dry.
