Hey brother. Every flight home from downrange is the best flight. 

My first tour overseas I went over on a rattlecan DC10 and came back on an old MD11, 7 and 9 hours respectively so not near as bad as the 17 hour. And I really like the C17 troop seating, it gives you something to look at (all the mechanicals) too.

Though my last long flight back in June had a lot more legroom... troop seating on one of our C17s on a trip up to Elmendorf, AK.
