It would seem that a CO2-based product would be cheaper and easier to produce, offsetting any development cost for a higher-pressure system. Between R12, R134, conversion kits, now R1234yf, we’ve got over 10 grand worth of equipment lying around. Getting a bit ridiculous. 

So why is R1234yf being mandated, and not R744?
