Its the fact that one can personally take steps to protect yourself against heart disease, but there is little to be done against getting shot. Though the idea that we should focus on what actually kills people (for accidental deaths it’s opioids, cars and guns) is certainly valid.

There is a HUGE difference between that and what the NRA does.

^this. If they are right with what they say, this is an EXCELLENT idea.

No.

I didn’t actually watch any of the testimony, but based solely on your description I think I need to check it out...

As a liberal gun owner (and a good shot you asshole!!) I will admit to laughing at this....

You can tell everything I need to know about someone by the way they treat old people, kids or animals. Wives seem like a good addition to that list.

why oh why can’t we use logic and data? :(

And most gun violence is actually suicide or domestic violence. But lets not let facts get in the way of things...

Oh the imagery... What’s he have, like a giant super soaker full of fryer grease??

Sounds like there are a lot of us on today.

There is actually a huge difference - While the ACLU will defend your rights (no matter the amendment), the NRA will lobby to get laws passed to prevent research on gun deaths as a social or health problem to prevent the possibility of new laws or amendments being passed restricting the 2nd.

Hear hear, as another armed liberal. Gun laws are a joke, and need to be amended for our safety, and this can be done while still allowing responsible gun ownership.

I am a big biker (6'1", 210) and I have never been asked to leave my vehicle... never. This is sexual harassment and control, not procedure. Infuriating to hear about :(

With you on that - One legit crazy, several with which things just didn’t work out. There is a big difference between the two, but if all your ex’s are crazy either it’s just you OR it’s you AND them because part of your crazy is finding more crazy. But probably just you...

They are not actually illegal, just super duper expensive- The only legal ones were manufactured before May 19, 1986. You need a tax stamp too, so between that and the rarity they are quite costly. These guys are definitely not carrying them.

Kinda... but my wife has just about no income (seriously, less than 15k/yr gross) and her credit score is 833, with student loans, mortgage, etc. tagged to her name as well.

Yup, and some have meh credit, for one legit reason or another.

There are 13 states that conform to CARB, representing a significant majority of new auto sales. The industry will sue and work the political angle, but not selling in those states is not a viable business case.

I really do not think they will be successful in stopping CARB. And California is itching for the fight, which will take years anyway, during which we will likely see a significant political shift.
