Oh, you have 86? I have an 87 :) ODO was frozen at 93k and change when I bought it two years ago... what a tank!

I have an 87 300SDL which shares the OM 603. Any of them that are still alive must have either had a good casting from the factory or been recalled and fixed. This is the old MB diesel you want!! Enough power to get even a long body S class out of it’s own way, but still all the reliability and character of an old…
You have offered no reason for your opinions to have any basis in reality. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
You have no evidence to back this up. I brought up my riding because it demonstrates my knowledge and experience in this subject area -I am right, the author is right, the technical details in the article back us up, as does the number of police forces switching away from Harley. To say it is just about dollars an…
Go read the other propaganda.
See, that’s it. These bikes would be getting 30k+ a year. Different duty cycle, much harder on the bike.
They actually don’t - this is a 3rd party company. Probably part of the reason it is having trouble getting a lot of traction, but they are pretty awesome, all the way down to the bulletproof bottom skid plate so you can lay the bike down and get some cover behind it.
I LOL’d. That show is so effed up, my wife and I love it.
Yup. Victory and Indian are the new, real American motorcycles. Go Polaris!!
FYI, to flesh out the article a bit Re: my avatar.
They kick ass - http://victorypolicemotorcycles.com/
Um wut? What about cam chain tensioners failing at 20-30k, three different oils that need changed... How many miles are you putting on those bikes? I ride with a bunch of people who have over 100K on their Harleys, and oh boy you should talk to them about long term reliability... Total rebuilds, motor replacement...…
The initial cost is within $1k and I disagree with you on upkeep costs (I always ask these questions when I meet bike cops). But what would be REALLY great is if we had a transparent evaluation process with reports sent to all PD’s...
See my story below about getting pulled by an HD cop. He couldn’t get his bike started for a bit, only caught up to me at a stop light (I had no idea he was coming for me). We laughed and talked about how much they suck, he gave a warning so his boss would know he was working and let me go.
I know exactly the maintenance. I know that HD’s only recently (2014) fixed the cam chain tensioner that causes the motor to blow between 30-50k miles. I have two BMW’s and a Victory, and ride with a SHITLOAD of HD dudes... all of whom told me to check out Victory when I was shopping for that bike. Victory has one…
The HD’s are about 25, the Victory is about 30 but comes with more and has lower operating costs and better longevity. The BMW’s like pictured above are about $500 more than the HD.
They are shitty bikes for that job and I have talked to cops about it before. Anecdotal, which I know doesn’t work on the internet, but I stand by my statements. The facts do not support their use for this application.
Shitty political reasons that have very little to do with the job at hand, but yes...
Yah, I always hated them and though they were a stupid waste of money, until I heard it was the only way to get a 4 door SVT. That makes a little more sense.
