Still a BS answer, the Victory based options are better in every metric, but HD has the political backing. That said, the forces down here are switching to BMW, a wise decision in my eyes.

I got pulled over by a Harley cop once. Took him forever to catch up to me because it wouldn’t start... If I had actually wanted to run there is no way in hell he would have caught me. We had a good laugh and he let me go with a warning.
The BMW’s have an overall lower cost. This is politics, pure and simple. Even the Victory based options are cheaper and better in every metric.
Not a factor. Motorcycle cops can RIDE, and the BMW’s are actually easier to handle at low speed.
It is an R1200RT, just a funny angle.
I think the BMW bikes would still win. They are very well made and perform excellently out of the box. But yes, a fair honest comparison would be nice.
At the dealership the other day I saw a police spec K1600GT. Now that’s a bad MF, good luck getting away...
Yup. There are a TON of better options for this duty, and one of them is still an American made cruiser... just sayin’... :)
I disagree with you about Montenegro, but you do make some really good points, especially about Turkey. NATO needs them for a lot of reasons but they have been at odds with us on a lot recently.
LOL, for Der Vaterland!!
The K bikes are not bad. I quasi inherited my brother in laws 87 K100LT, and I just bought a friends 08 K1200GT. The parts can sometimes be a little more money but generally not, and they are not too bad to work on... AS LONG AS you do it exactly as the engineers intended :) You should also be able to find a local BMW…
Because BMW. Those Germans know a thing or two (not that the Suzi sounds like a bad buy, but...). All the R bikes are kinda magical, more than the sum of the parts.
Oh, nice dude! GL, I hope it really is just the bars... Sweet bike for that price.
oops
Welcome to the club brother :) They are not the fastest or the “best” but they can be a helluva lot of fun! And really that’s the only metric that should matter to the rider - what makes YOU smile.
Oh man, a 2002 with almost any BMW inline 6 swap. So hot.
We appreciate your hard work, both of you. Sean has been putting out some great content... Keep it up!
The accounting was impeccable, flights, food and gas.
Yes. They look like fun :) “Please, ride me!!”
