@PHIL: The '71 was quicker... but I agree. We must set for them a series of challenges....

Not sure which 440 this one has, the 330hp or the 375hp, but these cars are legends in the police world. 0-60 was around 6 seconds and top speed was in the neighborhood of 140, meaning that this would contend with, if not beat, any currently offered police package.

I'd take that over an SLS any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I live in Kansas and, consequently, am not impressed. Unless you tell me that there's either no speed limit or it goes completely unenforced on this road, in which case okay, I would be impressed.

@xerxes5: None of those were in any way "supporting."

It's an origami-era, turbocharged Lotus in solid shape for under 20 grand. If you vote CP on this I don't get you, and I don't want to.

@2ndGearSuperhero: Never mind, I HAVE seen one of these. The Illinois Nazis drove one. How could I ever forget?

That car is in truly unbelievable condition, and I've never actually seen one of these, in photos or in person, in my life. The historical record does need to be kept alive, and I have no doubt this seller will get his money. Just not from me.

I say stay with a slant 6.

@Foo2rama: I wonder if the economic collapse had anything to do with it. The Z4-based cars are much more of a "toy" and unnecessary luxury than an E46, which you can justify as being a practical every-day car. The coupes seem to command a bit of a premium over the roadsters... but yeah, they're pretty much

@AlcatrazT: Yeah, I can go with "not super-unreasonable."

@madveks: I disagree, but heartclick for knowing and using the phrase "mark out."

@Foo2rama: Price is ten grand higher than what '06 stockers are going for.

@AlcatrazT: Where are you getting the idea that 36 grand is a fair price for a stock M Roadster with low mileage? Because it just isn't. There's an uber-maintained, stock, garage queen '06 M Roadster for sale right now on the BMW CCA classifieds with remaining warranty and 27k on the clock for $24,500. This is

An E85 / E86 M Coupe or Roadster is really high on my WANT list. That said, I'd prefer to experience the M Division's interpretation of the car rather than Tunerboy's. Considering what nice, low-mileage, unmolested examples are going for, this is WAY too high. On modded cars, you simply cannot add up all your

People who base their entire opinion of cars on one statistic completely miss the point. There's more to a car than its 0-60 time, top speed, Nurburgring time, or, yes, weight. Yet so many, including a lot of those here, base their entire opinion of a car they've never seen or driven, and in some cases cars that

That's really sharp. Something doesn't quite look right, but it's probably just the wheels. I know I'm in the minority here, but I love the unpretentious, purposeful look of '70s supercar interiors, and this one pulls it off with panache.
