I think it was a good move to give us a definitive ending. Norman's dead and gone and with Mother forever which is what he always wanted from the start. The show changed so much over the years, the first two season building the characters into people we cared about and then the last three season tearing them apart.

there should be a lot more people in that Lake, I think the guy they dumped the first episode should be in there too, and who knows how many others, hell they never even found Norman's Doctor's body who we all assume that Norman killed some how

He gave Dylan no choice really, even though he wasn't aiming the knife at Dylan, its kind of like suicide by cop, I think Dylan didn't want Norman to die, but he had too much to loose to risk his life,
