But I also love the more modern English mysteries: PD James, Colin Dexter, Ruth Rendell. And I also enjoyed Junot Diaz and some of the South American writers including Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I guess it’s quite a mixed bag.

What is your preference for reading, if you have time???

Oh, gosh. It’s a long long list. I posted because I was curious what others were reading. From Friday in Jezebel we were talking about All Creatures Great and Small, both the TV version and the books: One of my first love was Agatha Christie, but soon my literary (school librarian) aunt exposed me to Dorothy Sayers

Or, does anybody have any great summer reading to recommend???

I enjoyed reading Alexis’ post on Summer Reading And Cozy Mysteries from earlier today. I’m copying and posting my response from her article, in hope someone here besides me has enjoyed (or would like to enjoy) the cozy American mystery series featuring Kate Fansler, an academic who also solves mysteries in her spare

Yes, you’re right the symbol denotes power and confidence. Fingers crossed for you. What an adventure lies ahead of you!

I watch a lot of Brit TV, some of which features local archeology: Time Team, Detectorists, and I don’t know what else. So, I’m aware of these symbols in stone, are they mostly found in Ireland? A bit graphic for my taste, but in the context of medieval society you can understand the power and magnetism of the “giver

Sounds like great places to hang in limbo. Peace and good news, I hope, on the horizon for you.

Seems an appropriate background. Those symbols are fascinating!

Luck, luck, all the best lucks!!!

It’s a great feeling, going to bed fresh from the shower and tired and happy after a long productive day-doesn’t happen so often here, cause I’m a bit lazy. So congrats and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Sincere condolences for your loss.

It’s been many many years since I recommended The novels of Amanda Cross on this site. These highly well-written novels would appeal to the Jez reader and staff, I imagine, for multiple reasons. I read the all Cross’s novels in the past and could easily re-read them with pleasure. The author, Carolyn Heilbrun was a

<3 Love this story for the happy ending <3

Really, you and I could be friends. One of my first love was Agatha Christie, but soon my literary (school librarian) aunt exposed me to Dorothy Sayers and after that there was no looking back. So, I harbor an enduring love for all the classic Brit murder lit geniuses like Margery Allingham, Ngaio Marsh, and the

Glasgow? I LOVED Glasgow. I went to see Johnny Flynn and the Sussex Wit at St. Luke’s while I was there. Love them! I took a hired bus up into the Highlands and all around: Glasgow to Loch Lomond, Inverness, and then back down. So lovely. I went to the Kelvingrove which is where I saw the Ruben’s George Villiers. I

Czar, I know I have seen 1 or 2 episodes of this show, but it’s so long ago I can’t remember which streaming service. I’ve looked on Prime, Acorn, and Britbox with no success. Did I maybe find some complete episodes on Youtube? I’ll let you know if I track it down.

I have seen one or two episodes of this show, but seemed to get lured away by all the great fiction they offer. Lately, if I’m watching their “reality” programming, it’s Time Team and This Farming Life that I’m watching. But thanks for the reminder!!

Oh, Ill have to give that another chance. Like the Lord Peter Whimsey series, I found Campion to have severely dated production values and basically unwatchable. Thank you for the reminder.

Not really. Although Alan is consistently good, as is the writing. Julia Swalha shared her ample bosoms and cleavage a little too much and Sheridan Smith is just confusing to me. Of all of them I think I preferred Sarah Alexander-Warrick Davis is in one of the episodes with her and Alan.
