Agreed. The revival has some really low points (I cannot communicate how much I loathed the Life and Death Brigade sequence, the fat-shaming pool scenes, or the jokes about Paul) but it also has scenes I really liked (Emily stuff mostly and, strangely enough Michel and Dean’s scenes). Season 7 has stuff I hate, a lot

Is this the episode where Chris tries arguing “the first one turned out pretty good” and Lorelai points out that didn’t just happen seamlessly? To be fair, Lorelai also expressed reservations about having another child with Luke but all this just shows how rushed and ill-advised the marriage was.

I don’t know, I mean season 7 was awful but I felt that the revival was worse. The showrunners had such a great and frankly lucky opportunity to end the show well. Something they didn’t get to do earlier but they even fucked that up. The revival confirmed that the awfulness of Season 6 wasn’t a fluke. Season 7 is

Doesn’t “female Marcus Brody” begin and end with Helen Mirren?

She’s got a nice, flinty presence in this role. It was nice to see her again, for sure.

Also important to acknowledge the writers who got their big breaks on Bochco shows (David E. Kelley, David Milch, Mark Frost, Dick Wolf, etc). The list of great shows that would not exist if not for him is pretty long.

I never really liked the movie, but the songs are great and I’ve seen a few good amatur productions.

As a kid, I had such a crush on Victor Garber in that movie. The songs were awesome, too.

Those were bankers.  It’s okay to wreck their shit.

Good for you guys. Truly.

Fairly sure that was every AVClubber’s first thought.

Of course reading this story automatically makes me think of this:

I have been waiting so long to say this:

Favorite part of MoS that showed just how much Snyder didn’t comprehend the scope of violence that he portrayed. End of the movie the one dude is asking someone to go to the basketball game with him. WHAT!? The whole fucking city is destroyed, they’d be lucky if they had a basketball stadium much less an actual team

Ahh yes. That song about the time Kenny Loggins was kidnapped by a bunch of Jimmy Buffett fans.

Ah yes, noted white person Kevin Pang.

I’d assume it’s partly the violence. It’s not bloodily gruesome, but very matter-of-fact. Dogs bite, after all. Also a Jeff Goldblum-voiced dog gossiping about who might be mating with whom on Trash Island is instant PG-13 minimum.

Gwen this is you answering your own question about when S7 gets better :-)

I followed someone’s advice and simply fast forwarded through the Julie parts.

Stanley Tucci was so good in that role. I could definitely have used more of him.
