The first movie was definitely a charmer (having Sally Hawkins and Jim Broadbent in your cast is a good start, adding Peter Capaldi as a nosy neighbor and Nicole Kidman fully committed as a villain is even better) and I’m glad to hear this continues that path.

That’s just great! Mad About You also had a fertility test episode that led to these same kinds of questions and confusion about this time. My parents just didn’t address it and prayed I didn’t ask any questions.

The Red Skull was Dr. Strange’s dad? What a twist!

Totally agree with you. Teen Bad Boy Jess becomes a toxic match with Rory, full of jeaulosy and anger. But then he finds himself and finds growth and finds Rory regressing. Jess matures into a person with his head on his shoulders, but I don’t think he gets that if he stays in Stars Hollow and with Rory.

Coach was a show that I watched as a middle school kid that probably wasn’t aimed at me (I didn’t understand what Coach was doing at the doctor’s office when he was getting tested for fertility at all!), but I thought it was always a good show and one with a sneaky good cast. Craig T. Nelson was so good on Parenthood

She really did win me over on Switched at Birth and she is in no way bad as April. My issue is definitely that April is dropped in as the world’s most obvious plot contrivance and Luke is written like an idiot in how he keeps her a secret from Lorelai where like a quick “Hey, this is weird, but I found out I had a kid

Love, love, love the Gilmores vs. the Huntzbergers. It’s perfect to me in showing Richard and Emily as people with common goals and desires who accomplish them in different ways.

That’s pretty awesome! Glad to know Elvis was impressed by your knowledge and you could get as much in as you did. Thanks for putting out the most consistently entertaining feature on the site, Will.

He’s my favorite musician but Elvis has amassed a pretty impressive acting resume too. The only ones that I didn’t see here that sticks out to me is playing himself in the finale of 3rd Rock From the Sun (he sings Fly Me to the Moon, appropriate for the show and for his crooning period at the time, and bites down on a

If they don’t get James Franco to play Carlos the Dwarf, what are we even doing here?

It may be sacrilege, and they’re both really flawed, but I think I actually prefer Season 7 to 6. The dinner fight montage is great and Paris has some wonderful times in 6, but the whole beginning is dragged down by the Rory/Lorelai conflict and then the middle and back half get sucked in to Luke and Lorelai both

Now playing

I can’t believe we’re already to 2017 next time. I’ve loved reading these. Thanks for this column, Tom.

Bring on the PG-13 Deadpool! All he says is “chimichangas!” now!

I was expecting Creed to just be a nostalgia parade, but I thought Coogler did a fantastic job balancing references to the past, twisting some of the iconic moments of Rocky to make it his own and just being a great movie on its own. And also letting Rocky’s fights feel like a real boxing match, just turned up to be

Yeah...the show cracking the field is going to be tough just because there’s so much competition. I hope at Emmy time Brie can get a nomination and, with categorized supporting actor fields, that Maron will get in too.

I was hoping Logan would get a little love for an outside shot something at Oscar time, but not to be I suppose. Would much rather have Jackman nominated for that than Greatest Showman.

Don’t listen to his suggestion about evacuating the dinosaurs by using some kind of teleportation machine. It will not end well!

Can’t someone write a screenplay where Doug Jones in amazing prosthetics fights an Andy Serkis mo-cap character? They’re both the absolute best at what they do.

Huh...I thought he was The Lobster.

I’m disappointed...that Rian Johnson isn’t wearing the white sweater with a big scorpion on the back! I need to know more about it. Like did he take one of Sting’s old coats and iron the scorpion logo on the back of a sweater?
